Toothpaste is one such product that is owned by every household. And what’s its basic need in life? Uncapping the tube, squeezing out the paste and brushing the teeth – 2 times a day. Toothpaste contains detergents, abrasives and thickening agents which work together to give us bright and clean teeth. However, most of us do not know that toothpaste has numerous other uses too.
Toothpaste can turn out to be an awesome homecare product. When I’m talking about toothpaste, do not the colorful ones as they can leave irremovable stains. Rather, go for the common white ones, as their effectiveness is maximum. Now then, let’s get straight to the point, shall we? Here are some innovative uses of the regular-white toothpaste:

#1. Jewelry Polish: There is no need to buy jewelry polish, as toothpaste can do the trick. Apply a thin layer of toothpaste on jewelry and start polishing gently. Once you are done polishing, rinse with water and let the jewelry dry. However, make sure that you do not polish rhinestones, turquoise and pearls with toothpaste.
#2. Carpet Stains: Contrary to the popular belief, toothpaste can remove stains from carpets. Take an adequate amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush, and scrub the stain. Once you are done, scrub the area with a cloth damped in water.
#3. CD & DVD Scratches: CD and DVD scratches are very common occurrences. Toothpaste can help cure them too. Take a little toothpaste and dab it on the scratches. Let it dry for 2 minutes, gently rinse it with water and soak the areas with a microfiber cloth.
#4. Scrub your Nails: Nails often become yellow and stained. However, you do not have to spend money on manicure sessions. All you have to do is apply a little toothpaste on a nailbrush, and gently scrub your nails. Your nails will regain the glow in no time.
#5. Deodorize your Hands: All those who are familiar with cooking might know that garlic, onion and egg leave a bad smell on hand. Squeeze out toothpaste and clean your hands with it. The detergents and abrasives are very efficient in removing strong and pungent smells.
